Defining effective communication for critically ill patients with an artificial airway: An international multi-professional consensus

Critically ill patients, like those in intensive care units, are a highly complex and varied group. Many critically ill patients need mechanical ventilation. Assessing communication in this population is challenging. This study provides international multi-professional consensus terminology and a
definition of effective communication which can be used in clinical practice.


Redenlab partnered with a large group of experts from The University of Melbourne, Austin Health, University of Technology Sydney, Manchester University, Johns Hopkins University, Ohio State University College of Nursing, George Institute Sydney, King’s College London, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, and Monash University
