Redenlab’s Chief Science Officer (Prof Adam Vogel) presents at the symposia on Facial and Vocal Markers of CNS function, “Speech is a Sensitive Marker of Neuropsychiatric and Neurodegenerative Conditions (in the Right Context)” at 2021 SOBP Annual Meeting, hosted by Isaac Galatzer-Levy (Clinical Research Lead at Facebook).

Symposium Synopsis Facial emotional activity and patterns of speech have all demonstrated relevance across diverse neuropsychiatric conditions including PTSD, Major Depressive Disorder, and schizophrenia. Increasingly, these markers, reflecting clinical characteristics such as blunted/flattened affect or slowed/quieted speech are understood to reflect underlying central nervous system functioning and thus can be used to index disease severity and response to pharmacological treatments. Panelists will present results of analyses of facial and vocal markers as they relate to diverse areas of CNS illness in diverse disorders including PTSD, MDD, Schizophrenia, and suicide risk. The transdiagnostic relevance of facial and vocal markers will be discussed. Further, the relevance of facial and vocal markers for remote digital assessment will be presented.
